Petals Services.The Mission of Petal is to provide individual and group psychotherapy for our clients. We provide individualized and compassionate psychotherapy for all adults. We also have specialized services for young adults (18-25), support groups for individual living with chronic pain like Sickle Cell Disease or Cancer, providing them the tools needed to navigate through daily life challenges.

Individual PsychotherapyWe live to navigate through daily challenges and life stressors. Chronic pain condition, like sickle cell disease, cancer adds additional stress to life. Going through life challenges and facing a terminal condition could potentially make it more difficult or nearly impossible to manage these life stressors. Life can be a very isolating experience for the patients and their families who may not know how to handle this condition or the emotional stress that comes from living with it.

Support GroupsSupport groups offer people with same condition a safe space to openly talk about their challenges without being judged, to learn coping mechanisms for dealing with life stressors and challenges. At Petals, we offer different support groups for individuals going through different crisis and stages in Life. Below you will find a list of the different support groups we offer.

Support Groups we Offer
1) Sickle Cell Support Group
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a chronic health condition characterized by intense pain and other chronic physical ailments. It is one of the commonest genetic disorders in the US. SCD affects approximately 100,000 Americans. It occurs in 1 out of 365 African American births and about 1 out of 16,300 Hispanic American births. (CDC)
Petals Behavioral Health service will provide a free monthly online support group for individuals living with sickle cell disease across the US. We will also have resources available for sickle cell patients across the different states in the united states to make services available for sickle cell patients.
2) Care Givers of individuals with chronic Conditions
Being a care giver for a loved one with chronic condition can be challenging and stressful. Caregivers could feel like they are neglecting their lives by giving all to their loved ones. They may also resent and feel guilty for resenting their loved one. The care givers support group provide a safe space for care givers to receive support, meet other care givers and receive support.
3)Support groups for people with diagnosis of weeks/months or a few years to live
Hearing that their condition is incurable and have just a few number of weeks, month, or years to live can be devastating. A lot of people may not know where to go from there or how to process the feeling. At the support group for individuals who knew that they have fewer days/months/weeks to live will provide them with tools and skills to prepare and be able to have a conversation with the family that they are living behind.
4)Support Group For young college Students (18-25)
Coming of age, becoming an adult can be very exciting. It also comes with several life challenges including navigating through academics, relationships or past traumas. This support group provides a safe space to process their feelings and learn coping mechanism.
